Miss Jennifer has rediscovered her zest for racing under our care at Goulburn, winning back-to-back races after only modest attempts with previous trainers.

The five-year-old New Zealand bred mare (Sacred Falls (NZ)  x Miss Perfection (NZ)) showcased her newfound form with a thrilling victory at Royal Randwick at the end of May.

Jockey Jason Collett delivered a perfectly timed ride in the 1200m Highway Handicap, guiding Miss Jennifer ($8.50) from the back of the field to edge out Scopics by a short half-head, with Tai Lung finishing third.

This win followed her dominant performance at Goulburn, where she won her debut race for the stable by a convincing margin on Heavy rain affected ground.

“She was really good first up for Danny last start,” Collett said. “Today there was nice pressure, and I think the easing ground definitely aided her.”

Danny is Miss Jennifer’s third trainer, and has done a marvelous job to help the mare rediscover her potential at her 14th race start, almost two years since her previous winning successes which came in her first 3 race-day attempts.

The mare’s positive turnaround under Danny’s guidance delighted her connections, who were able to celebrate two exciting wins in succession, including a special Saturday Metropolitan win at the storied surroundings of Royal Randwick.

Miss Jennifer’s recent exploits are an excellent example of the impact a stable switch can provide to older mares and holds the promise of more victories to come.

Congratulations to her owners.
