The stable enjoyed a remarkable afternoon at Moruya Jockey Club at the beginning of March, with two of our 2024 Country Championships aspirants, BANDI’S BOY and ATMOSPHERIC ROCK, securing their spot in the $1,000,000 Final by running first and second in the $150,000 SERA Qualifier.

It was firm favorite and talented rising star, Bandi’s Boy, who showcased his prowess best, overcoming a wide draw and defying a leader bias from over nine lengths back, to win comfortably for his regular jockey Jay Ford.

Meanwhile, his stablemate, Atmospheric Rock, delivered a similarly impressive performance, securing 2nd place with a determined late shot for home on the inside, skillfully piloted by Jason Collett who had made the journey South to continue his association with the recent Highway winner.

While dual qualifying for the 1400m Randwick Final, a trophy long sought after by the stable since the race’s inception in 2015, would make for special achievement in its own right, this outstanding result held added significance after the recent passing of Bandi’s Boy’s owner and dear friend, John Woods.

Celebrating John’s life with this win and what the future might hold for his much beloved horse alongside some of his family provided an extra layer of poignancy to the occasion.

In addition to our Country Championships success, Montebello’s Charm delivered a superb first-up effort, reeling in a tearaway leader in the 1200m Showcase BM58.

The 4YO son of Smart Missile, back in local company after a luckless previous preparation in Highway grade, presented in fine form under the guidance of jockey Nick Heywood.

Congratulations to all his ownership group on a well-deserved and much anticipated second win for the horse.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the owners, supporters, and everyone involved in making these victories possible. Your continued support and kind words are deeply appreciated.

This was a day that epitomised all that is great about Country Racing – filled with celebration, gratitude, remembrance and the possibility to reach new heights.

We eagerly anticipate continuing our success from the country on Sydney’s big stage.
