Goulburn Quinella! It’s a quintessential sight to see the Danny Williams Racing colours in a driving finish on their hometrack of Goulburn.

This time it was 4YO gelding AIR PLAY who found his best winning the 1000m Country Boosted Class 1 out of his own Maiden grade, just fending off his stablemate WOODZY who was coming home strongly on the outside.

It was a proactive ride from jockey Jay Ford which clinched the deal for Air Play, showing plenty of aggression from the bounce and charging up to sit outside the leader and be well positioned at the point of the turn.

From there was a matter of outlasting his opponents and repelling any challenges which he did well for a horse yet to finish better than 3rd in his previous six starts.

Given his maiden status he was the least fancied of the two other more experienced DWR runners WOODZY (2nd) and MASTERS (4th) who finished just behind.

Excellent to see all of the DWR runners so competitive and steadily improving with each run.
