MARSABIT: A Season Highlight in the Autumn

Freshened after defying his huge starting price and claiming the 2000m Country Classic at Rosehill in late November 2022, Irish import MARSABIT returned from a Christmas break for what was to be a lucrative Autumn campaign.

Consistency defined the 5YO’s preparation.

Warming up with a second-up 3rd in BM85 Grade, it wasn’t until a few starts later and a change in gear that he unlocked a solid vein of form, securing 2nd-place finishes in competitive editions of the Albury and Orange Cups.

This momentum brought him to the pinnacle moment at his next run with victory in a lucrative BM88 race over 1800m on a Metropolitan Saturday at Rosehill.

Easing past other runners who were battling the Heavy 9 conditions, Marsabit exhibited tenacity under jockey Jay Ford, clinching a memorable win.

The team at Goulburn credited this win at Rosehill as the highlight of their 2022/23 season

A subsequent 5th in the Wagga Cup was also a notable achievement in a deep and profitable preparation of 9 race starts over a 5 month period for almost $150,000 in prizemoney.

More staying targets lie in this horse’s horizon in his 6YO year and his return in highly anticipated by the stable.

Hearty congratulations to his owners:
